Job summary

LEC Eye Centre, Perak's longstanding ophthalmology practice, seeks an Optometrist to perform full eye examinations, refractions, and contact lens fittings. You will assess visual function and support diagnosis and treatment planning in collaboration with ophthalmologists.

Maintain clinical records, adhere to safety standards, and contribute to ongoing professional development, including occasional satellite-clinic work and patient education on eye health and treatment options.

Qualifications

• Professional clinical skills including comprehensive eye examination, refraction, binocular vision assessment and contact lens fitting.
• Diagnostic capabilities using imaging equipment like autorefractors, keratometers, OCT and visual field analyzers.
• Strong patient care, communication and empathetic interaction with diverse patients.
• Teamwork to collaborate with ophthalmologists, nurses and admin staff.
• Accurate documentation and adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards.
• Registration in Malaysia or eligibility to register as an optometrist.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on optometry trends.
• Prior experience in a specialist eye centre or hospital is a plus; knowledge of refractive surgery co-management is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye examinations and refractions to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Fittings for contact lenses and assessment of visual function.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other staff to deliver patient care.
• Interpret diagnostic test results and educate patients on eye health and treatment options.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure safety and protocol compliance.
• Support patient flow and occasional satellite clinic duties, with ongoing professional development.
