Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy in Malaysia seeks a Registered Clerk of Works (COW) to oversee site activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of relevant site supervision experience and strong knowledge of electrical installation standards. Responsibilities include monitoring contractors, conducting inspections, and liaising with authorities. This role requires good communication skills and the ability to work independently at the Ipoh project site.

Qualifications

• Registered Clerk of Works (COW) with BEM is mandatory.
• Minimum 2-3 years of relevant site supervision experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical installation standards and testing procedures.

Job description

Oversee day-to-day site activities to ensure work is carried out safely and in accordance with the approved plans.

Monitor contractors’ performance, workmanship quality, and progress.

Ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and guidelines.

Conduct regular inspections on Electrical or M&E works (as applicable).

Identify non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.

Verify materials delivered to site meet the required standards and specifications.

Maintain detailed site records including site diaries, inspection forms, and daily reports.

Prepare progress updates and highlight issues requiring attention from the Resident Engineer / Project Manager.

Assist in preparation of site inspection reports and NCRs.

Liaise with contractors, consultants, and relevant authorities on site-related matters.

Attend site meetings and provide technical input when required.

Support the engineering team in resolving site problems and technical issues.

Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with safety regulations and company HSE policies.

Report unsafe practices and enforce corrective measures.

Ensure all activities comply with BEM guidelines and relevant Malaysian construction standards.

Assist in verifying that works follow local authority requirements and approved submissions.

Job Requirements

Registered Clerk of Works (COW) with BEM (mandatory).

Minimum 2-3 years of relevant site supervision experience.

Strong knowledge of electrical installation standards, codes, and testing procedures.

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and SLDs.

Strong knowledge of construction practices, drawings, specifications, and site procedures.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Good communication and reporting skills.

Willing to be based full-time at the Ipoh project site.
