Job summary

SME Bank Malaysia is seeking a seasoned professional to lead the Group Credit Risk function as Head, Group Credit Risk. You will oversee the credit risk management framework, risk appetite, policies and governance, and drive forward-looking insights on asset quality and portfolio performance.

The role requires extensive experience in credit risk analytics, modelling and MFRS 9 ECL, with a track record of building high-performing teams and strong stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant banking or financial services experience.
• Extensive experience in credit risk analytics and model development.
• Strong leadership in credit risk management and governance.
• Knowledge of credit risk frameworks, risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with credit risk modelling, including MFRS 9 ECL.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Group Credit Risk function and oversee the risk framework, policies and governance across the Group.
• Monitor overall credit portfolio performance and provide forward-looking insights on asset quality and capital.
• Drive credit risk analytics, modelling and portfolio insights to support risk-conscious decisions.
• Ensure credit risk considerations are embedded in risk strategy and portfolio planning.
• Lead development and review of credit risk rating models and MFRS 9 ECL governance.
• Review sector and country limits and adjust based on risk.
• Provide guidance on new products and business initiatives from a risk perspective.
• Ensure consistent credit risk policies across entities and segments.
• Identify and escalate material credit risks and breaches with mitigation.
