Job summary

Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang seeks a dynamic Chief Engineer (RSR & GSH) to lead engineering operations for Penang properties. You will manage maintenance, safety compliance, and utilities, while driving continuous improvements and cost controls.

Strong English, Malay, and Chinese communication is required, with 2+ years in hotel engineering preferred. This clustered post covers Penang properties, with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Holder of relevant Mechanical & Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Good command of English, Malay and Chinese.
• Mininum 2 years working experience, preferably in the Hotel Industry.
• Has a great Leadership & Interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of facility management, fire safety, furniture, fixtures & equipment, able to handle in-house projects.
• Self-starter, tactful, goal-oriented and team builder.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general administration of the Engineering Dept and maintenance of buildings, fixtures, fittings and equipment.
• Monitor and ensure smooth, efficient operation of all equipment.
• Assist budget planning and expenditure control for maintenance and projects.
• Ensure facilities comply with local regulations and internal standards through audits and corrective actions.
• Coordinate crisis management and emergency response activities.
• Develop and deliver training on emergency procedures to enhance readiness and compliance.
• Apply EH&S and loss prevention principles to uphold workplace safety.

Chief Engineer, RSR & GSH

• This is a Clustered postion for Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang & Shangri-La Golden Sands, Penang.

As a Chief Engineer, RSR & GSH, we rely on you to

• Responsible for the general administration of the Engineering Dept, including proper maintenance and repair of all buildings, fixtures, fittings and equipment as well as technical improvements, preventive maintenance and utilities consumption control.
• Monitor and maintain all equipment, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning
• Support budget planning and expenditure control for maintenance and engineering projects to optimize resource allocation
• Ensure all facilities comply with local regulations and internal standards by conducting regular audits and implementing corrective actions
• Coordinate and participate in crisis management and emergency response activities to mitigate risks and ensure swift resolution
• Develop and deliver training programs related to emergency procedures to enhance team readiness and compliance
• Apply expertise in Environment Health, Occupational Health and Safety Assessment, and Loss Prevention to uphold workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
