Job summary

OUS Group of Companies in Malaysia's Pahang mining site seeks a Chemist to join our lab team. You will analyze mineral samples, perform qualitative and quantitative tests, and support QA/QC to ensure products meet industry standards.

Based at the mining site laboratory, you will collaborate with engineers, R&D, and QA/QC, develop methods to improve yield and reduce costs, and help maintain safe, compliant lab operations while traveling to other sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in laboratory testing and chemical analysis.
• Familiarity with analytical techniques (UV-Vis, HPLC, GC, FTIR, etc.).
• Knowledge of process simulation and optimization is an advantage.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze mineral samples to determine chemical composition.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses using SOPs/WIs.
• Introduce new testing methods to identify valuable elements.
• Maintain laboratory facilities and report equipment defects promptly.
• Assist in sampling and inspection activities to enhance mining efficiency.

• Develop and test new reagents or methods to increase yield and reduce costs.

Job description

We are seeking a Chemist to join our mining operations team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate mineral sample analysis, optimizing chemical processes, and supporting quality assurance in line with industry standards. The successful candidate will be based at the mining site laboratory and collaborate closely with mining engineers, QA/QC teams, and R&D specialists to drive efficiency, innovation, and safety in mineral processing.

Key responsibilities

Analyze mineral samples to determine chemical composition.

Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses using approved SOPs/WIs.

Introduce new testing methods to identify valuable elements.

Maintain laboratory facilities and report equipment defects promptly.

Assist in sampling and inspection activities to enhance mining efficiency.

Develop and test new reagents or methods to increase yield and reduce costs.

Work with QA/QC teams to ensure products meet specifications.

About you

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Materials Science, Mining Engineering, Mineral Resources Engineering, or related field.

Hands-on experience in laboratory testing and chemical analysis.

Familiarity with analytical techniques (UV-Vis, HPLC, GC, FTIR, etc.).

Knowledge of process simulation and optimization is an advantage.

Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Must be based at the mining site laboratory.

Willing to travel between mining sites and offices in Kuantan/Kuala Lumpur as required.
