Job summary

Agroto Business (M) Sdn Bhd in Perak is seeking an AO Chargeman to assist in inspecting, maintaining and repairing low‑voltage electrical systems, including lighting, switchboards and irrigation pumps. You will support a Chargeman A1 in routine maintenance and minor installations.

Responsibilities

Job description

1. Assist in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of low-voltage (LV) electrical systems, including lighting circuits, distribution boards, ventilation fans, irrigation pump panels, and related electrical equipment.

2. Support the Chargeman A1 in routine maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, switchboard operations, and minor installation works.

3. Replace fuses, lamps, switches, sockets, and other electrical accessories within the scope of the A0 Chargeman certification.

4. Carry out basic preventive maintenance to ensure electrical systems remain safe and operational.

Inspection & Monitoring

1. Perform routine visual inspections and basic functional testing of electrical circuits, sockets, and LV equipment.

2. Monitor equipment condition and promptly report abnormalities such as overheating, damaged components, loose connections, or voltage irregularities.

3. Assist in identifying potential electrical issues before they develop into equipment failures.

Documentation & Compliance

1. Maintain accurate daily maintenance records, inspection checklists, and work logbooks.

2. Ensure all tools, testing instruments, and personal protective equipment (PPE) are properly maintained and ready for use.

3. Support compliance with the Electricity Supply Act, Suruhanjaya Tenaga regulations, and company electrical safety procedures.

Safety & Housekeeping

1. Comply with all electrical safety requirements, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices.

2. Maintain cleanliness and organization of electrical rooms, distribution board areas, and maintenance workspaces.

3. Report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, or electrical hazards to the supervisor without delay.

Qualifications

2. Minimum SPM/SPMV or equivalent qualification, preferably with credits in Mathematics or Science.

3. Successful completion of an A0 Chargeman competency course from a recognized training provider.

Experience

1. Fresh graduates and newly certified A0 Chargemen are encouraged to apply.

2. Up to one (1) year of experience in electrical maintenance, facilities management, or industrial environments is an advantage.

Skills

1. Basic knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems and electrical safety practices.

2. Ability to use common electrical hand tools and basic test instruments such as a multimeter.

3. Good record-keeping, communication, and teamwork skills.

4. Willingness to learn and develop technical competencies.

Other Requirements

1. Physically fit and able to work in outdoor and agricultural environments.

2. Able to work independently under supervision and as part of a team.

3. Willing to participate in training and progress toward Chargeman A1 certification.

4. Willing to work in Cameron Highlands.
