Job summary

Translation and Interpretation Services Company in Malaysia is hiring a Cantonese-English interpreter for a 100% work-from-home position. You will perform consecutive interpretation for live doctor-patient, banker, and client conversations, primarily during night shifts with varying start times.

The role requires strong listening and note-taking skills and the ability to stay neutral at all times. The ideal candidate should be bilingual in Cantonese and English (B2 CEFR level) and able to work

Responsibilities

• Provide language interpretation from one language to another for individuals with language barriers.
• Handle telephone or video calls on demand and render meaning of conversations in consecutive mode.
• Process information quickly, recognize cultural differences, and remain professional and courteous.
• Use appropriate industry terminology and understand common industry procedures.

Client: Translation and Interpretation Services Company

Position: Interpreter (100% Work from Home)

Language: Cantonese-English-Cantonese

Location: Work From Home (Based in Malaysia)

Job Scope: Consecutive interpretation- Live conversation Doctor & Patient, Banker and client etc...

Working Hours: 100% night shift that changes monthly. Entry points can be any hour from 7pm, 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12am, 1am, 2am, 3am etc. (8 hours online per shift, 40 hours online per week MINIMUM)

Salary: Basic package up to RM6000 - RM6800

Qualifications

• Excellent listening, retention and note taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy
• Ability to concentrate, stay detached from the conversation, and always remain neutral and objective
• Ability to quickly establish personal credibility
• Ability to follow client's instructions closely
• Ability to explain certain cultural concepts to avoid miscommunication with the permission or at request of the client
• B2 CEFR English Level bilingual with other required languages
• Able to work from home on a permanent basis

Responsibilities

• Provide language interpretation from one language to another for individual with language barrier to understand and communicate to each other
• Handling telephone or video calls on demand and renders meaning of conversations in the consecutive mode of interpretation between speakers of English
• Processes information quickly and concisely, recognizes sensitive cultural differences, and is always professional and courteous
• The interpreter will use appropriate industry terminology and understand common industry procedures and practices.
• The calls may involve simple or complex, non-technical or technical subjects in Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Finance, Utilities, Travel and Hospitality, 911 emergency services, Law Enforcement, Courts, and General Business.
