Job summary

Effective Bond Sdn Bhd is seeking a capable barista in Kuala Lumpur to deliver beverage excellence and friendly service. You will prepare drinks from standard recipes, operate espresso machines and maintain a clean workstation in a busy environment. The role requires a minimum SPM and 1–2 years in a similar F&B role.

Qualifications

• Minimum SPM/high school qualification or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of experience as a barista or in a similar F&B role.
• Solid knowledge of espresso-based and manual brewing methods.
• Barista certification and/or latte art skills are an advantage.
• Food hygiene knowledge; a food handling certificate is a plus.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and beverage quality.
• Ability to multitask and stay composed during peak hours.
• Willingness to guide and support junior baristas.
• Reliable, punctual and proactive problem-solver.

Responsibilities

• Prepare beverages according to standard recipes.
• Operate coffee machines, grinders and related equipment correctly.
• Ensure consistency in taste, presentation and quality.
• Greet customers politely and take orders accurately.
• Handle customer inquiries regarding menu items and feedback.
• Maintain cleanliness of bar area and workstations; daily opening/closing duties.
• Adhere to food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups and supplies.
• Assist with stock rotation and replenishment; report issues.
• Follow recipe standards and escalate issues to supervisors.
• Communicate clearly with team to ensure smooth operations.

• Maintain cleanliness of the bar area, machines, tools and workstations

• Perform daily opening and closing cleaning duties

• Comply with food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards

• Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups and bar supplies

• Assist with stock rotation and replenishment

• Report low stock or equipment issues to supervisors

• Follow recipe standards without deviation unless approved by Supervisor/Manager

• Immediately report any product quality issues (taste, texture, temperature, presentation)

• Ensure drinks served meet brand standards before handover to customer

• Communicate clearly with team members during service to ensure smooth operations

• Report incidents, mistakes, or operational issues immediately to Supervisor or Manager

• Escalate unresolved customer issues promptly

• Report to work on time and follow assigned schedules

• Adhere to company policies, SOPs and workplace rules

• Maintain professional appearance, teamwork and a positive attitude
