Job summary

JCY HDD Technology Sdn Bhd in Tebrau, Johor, is seeking a dedicated Buyer to join our purchasing team on a full-time basis.

You will source suppliers, negotiate terms, prepare orders, and collaborate with operations to maintain cost-efficient procurement and smooth supply chain.

The role requires 2–3 years of relevant experience; Diploma or Bachelor's in business or related field preferred.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of buying/purchasing experience in manufacturing or logistics.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related field preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 or related quality standards advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability and delivery.
• Negotiate purchase agreements, pricing and terms with vendors for best value.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders in compliance with policies.
• Manage vendor relationships and performance, tracking delivery schedules.
• Monitor market conditions, pricing trends and competitive activity.
• Maintain supplier records, contracts and purchase history.
• Collaborate with operations, inventory and finance to meet requirements.
• Analyse spending and identify cost reduction and process improvements.

About the role

JCY HDD Technology Sdn Bhd is seeking a Buyer to join our purchasing and procurement team on a full-time basis at our facility in Tebrau, Johor. This role is critical to our supply chain operations, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and components essential to our manufacturing and logistics operations. As a Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining strong vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and optimising our procurement processes to support the company's operational excellence and profitability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Identifying, evaluating and selecting suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability and delivery performance
• Negotiating purchase agreements, pricing, terms and conditions with vendors to achieve optimal value for money
• Preparing and issuing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures
• Managing vendor relationships and performance, including tracking delivery schedules and addressing any quality or service issues
• Monitoring market conditions, pricing trends and competitor activities to inform procurement strategies
• Maintaining accurate records of supplier information, contracts and purchase history
• Collaborating with internal departments including operations, inventory management and finance to understand procurement requirements
• Analysing spending data and identifying opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements
• Ensuring compliance with company procurement policies, ethical standards and regulatory requirements
• Participating in supplier audits and quality assessments to maintain supply chain integrity

What we're looking for

• A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a buying, procurement or purchasing role, preferably within the manufacturing or logistics sector
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management and contract negotiation
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure competitive pricing and favourable terms
• Proficiency in using procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• A solid understanding of inventory management principles and supply chain logistics
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, procurement or a related field is preferred
• Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001 or equivalent is advantageous
• Advantage - spoken or understand mandrin
