Job summary

Verinon Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd is seeking a BI & Reporting Engineer in Kuala Lumpur to drive a data and reporting transformation, including migrating reports from Qlik to Power BI using Microsoft Fabric. Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of SQL development, BI, dashboarding, reporting, or business solutions.
• Experience with cloud data platforms is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Analyze reporting requirements and recommend BI solutions.
• Develop and optimise SQL / Power Query for data extraction and transformation.
• Design and develop Power BI / Qlik dashboards and reports.
• Work with data warehouses including modelling, testing, connectivity, and performance optimization.

Business Intelligence (BI) & Reporting Engineer (Investment Banking)

Role Overview

We are looking for a Business Intelligence (BI) & Reporting Engineer to support a data and reporting transformation initiative, including the migration of reports from Qlik to Power BI using Microsoft Fabric.

The role will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand reporting requirements, develop BI dashboards, optimise data processes, and deliver reliable reporting solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Analyse reporting requirements and recommend suitable BI solutions.

Develop and optimise SQL / Power Query for data extraction and transformation.

Design and develop Power BI / Qlik dashboards and reports.

Work with data warehouse environments, including data modelling, testing, connectivity, and performance optimisation.

Build and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft Fabric Data Factory, Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and PySpark/Notebooks.

Extract and transform data from Oracle and MS SQL Server.

Support data integration through APIs, SFTP, and other interfaces.

Automate recurring reporting and data extraction processes.

Troubleshoot data, reporting, connectivity, and performance issues.

Maintain technical documentation related to data extraction, transformation, and reporting.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver data and reporting requirements.

Participate in Agile/Scrum, testing, implementation, maintenance, and technical support activities.

Required Skills

Candidate must have professional experience or strong hands‑on knowledge in Investment Banking or Investment Management.

Strong hands‑on SQL and database development experience

Experience with Power BI and/or Qlik

Strong understanding of Data Modelling, ERDs, Data Mapping & Data Warehousing

Experience with ETL/ELT processes

Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, or Databricks

Strong knowledge of Power Query

Experience with Oracle and/or MS SQL Server

Knowledge of PySpark / Python Notebooks is an advantage

Experience with API and SFTP integration

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Good communication and stakeholder management skills

Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment

Education & Experience

Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, MIS, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in SQL development, BI, dashboarding, reporting, or business solutions.

Cloud database/platform experience is an advantage.

Exposure to investment and market data is an added advantage.
