HR2O Asia seeks a Business Development Engineer to drive growth across Malaysia's dynamic data centre sector. You will develop relationships with developers, hyperscalers, EPC/MEP contractors, and engineering consultancies, while identifying upcoming projects and shaping early solutions.

The role covers Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur with regional travel, requiring a technical background in electrical or mechanical engineering and 5–10 years in technical sales or BD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related technical discipline.
• 5–10 years of experience in technical sales or business development.
• Experience in the data centre ecosystem is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop new business opportunities across Malaysia's data centre market.
• Build relationships with developers, hyperscalers, colocation operators, EPC/MEP contractors, commissioning companies and engineering consultants.
• Identify upcoming data centre projects and position solutions early in the project lifecycle.
• Conduct customer meetings, technical presentations and site visits.
• Prepare commercial proposals and negotiate contracts.
• Maintain an active sales pipeline using CRM tools.
• Gather market intelligence and monitor competitor activities.
• Represent the company at industry events and networking activities.
• Collaborate with technical and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery.

About Our Client

Our client is a fast-growing international specialist providing critical testing and commissioning solutions for mission-critical facilities, with a strong focus on the rapidly expanding data centre industry.

Following the establishment of its APAC regional hub in Malaysia, the company is investing heavily in supporting hyperscale and colocation data centre projects across the region. As part of its ambitious growth strategy, they are now looking for a Business Development Engineer to drive business development activities in Malaysia.

The Role

As Business Development Engineer, you will play a key role in expanding the company's presence within Malaysia's booming data centre sector.

Combining technical knowledge with strong commercial skills, you will develop relationships with key stakeholders involved in the design, construction and commissioning of data centres, while identifying new projects and generating business opportunities.

Your primary territory will cover Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur, with occasional travel within the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather market intelligence and monitor competitor activities.

Who We Are Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Approximately 5 to 10 years' experience in technical sales or business development.
• Experience within the data centre ecosystem is highly desirable.
• Candidates currently working for OEMs, MEP contractors, EPC contractors, engineering consultancies or commissioning specialists are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure, cooling systems or mission-critical facilities.
• Existing network within Malaysia's data centre industry would be a significant advantage.
• Self-driven, commercially minded and capable of working autonomously.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
