Job summary

Intercontinental Specialty Fats Sdn Bhd (ISF) in Shah Alam is seeking a Boilerman to operate steam boilers and ensure safety procedures are followed in line with DOSH/JKKP and the Factory and Machinery Act 1967.

You will oversee boiler and utilities systems, start-up/shutdown, water treatment, and support annual inspections and repair work while maintaining logs and checklists.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Boilerman Grade 1 certification by DOSH.
• Minimum 3 years of boiler and utilities operation and maintenance in manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of steam boiler systems and safety regulations.
• Knowledge of boiler and cooling tower water treatment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee boiler operation and ensure optimum condition of auxiliary equipment
• Responsible for start-up and shutdown of utilities system and ensure safe operations
• Maintain and monitor boiler and cooling tower water treatment and analysis programs
• Involve in annual inspection activities including maintenance, repair and commissioning
• Respond to boiler breakdowns, perform repairs and restore operations promptly
• Report any damage to superior for appropriate action
• Monitor checklists, logbooks and reports; keep them accurate and updated
• Support periodic inspections of steam distribution systems and valve safety equipment
• Respond and support utilities equipment breakdowns
• Supervise external contractors and monitor performance
• Perform other ad hoc tasks as directed by superior

Job description

Operate steam boiler and ensure safety operating procedure are compliant to DOSH/JKKP and Factory and Machinery Act 1967

Key Accountabilities

Oversee the boiler operation and auxiliary equipment are at optimum operating condition

Responsible the start-up and shutdown of utilities system, ensuring seamless and safe operations

Maintain and monitor boiler and cooling tower water treatment and analysis programs

Involve in annual inspection activities with regards to the maintenance, checking, repair and commissioning

Respond promptly to boiler breakdowns, perform necessary repairs, and restore operations efficiently

Report any intentional or unintentional damage immediately to superior for appropriate action

Responsible in routine monitoring and operation of boiler and utility systems, ensuring that checklists, logbooks, and reports are accurately maintained and updated.

Support on periodic inspections of the steam distribution system during both production and non-production periods, ensuring optimal performance of pressure-reducing stations, valves, safety valves, and steam traps

Respond and support utilities equipment breakdown

Supervise external contractor’s works/services and monitor their performance.

Perform other ad hoc tasks and assignments as directed by the superior from time to time

Educational Background : Must possess valid Boilerman Grade 1 certified by DOSH

Working Experience : Minimum 3 years boiler & utilities operation and maintenance in Manufacturing industry

Required Knowledge :

Hand-on experience in steam boilers operation, maintenance, troubleshooting

Hands-on experience in utilities operation and maintenance

Good knowledge in basic electrical and mechanical

Good knowledge in boiler and cooling tower water treatment

Strong knowledge in steam boiler systems and safety regulations
