Job summary

Icon Medic Sdn Bhd is hiring a Biomedical Service Engineer to support our orthopedic equipment portfolio, including ConMed Arthroscopy systems, surgical power tools, and Vivostat units. You will manage field installations, provide user training, perform ad-hoc diagnostics, and coordinate service activities.

You will act as the technical bridge between hospital end-users and manufacturers for repairs, with responsibilities spanning testing, commissioning, reporting, and end-to-end repair

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of field service or application support experience in medical devices or surgical equipment.
• Valid Class D driving license and own vehicle for hospital visits.

Responsibilities

• Testing & Commissioning (T&C): perform site verification, setup, safety checks, and formal commissioning for new equipment.
• User Training & Orientation: deliver in-service training for surgeons, OT staff, and hospital engineers.
• Ad-Hoc Troubleshooting & First-Line Support: diagnose issues on-site and perform minor adjustments.
• Service Reports & Quotation Management: draft service reports and prepare cost estimates/quotations.
• End-to-End Manufacturer Repair Coordination: manage repair workflow from pickup to return and validation.

Job description

We are hiring a Biomedical Service Engineer dedicated to supporting our range of advanced Orthopedic Equipment, including ConMed Arthroscopy systems, surgical power tools, and Vivostat automated preparation units. You will oversee field installations, user training, ad-hoc diagnostics, and administrative coordination, acting as the key technical bridge between hospital end-users and equipment manufacturers for repairs.

Key Responsibilities

Testing & Commissioning (T&C): Perform site verification, physical setup, safety checks, and formal commissioning for new orthopedic equipment installed in hospital environments.

User Training & Orientation: Deliver practical in-service training for surgeons, scrub nurses, OT staff, and hospital bio-engineers on proper equipment handling and maintenance.

Ad-Hoc Troubleshooting & First-Line Support: Respond to urgent client requests to diagnose equipment issues on-site; handle immediate minor adjustments and determine underlying technical faults.

Service Reports & Quotation Management: Draft clear service evaluation reports after technical visits and prepare cost estimates/quotations for spare parts, service jobs, or repair contracts.

End-to-End Manufacturer Repair Coordination: Manage the entire repair workflow—collecting faulty units from end-users, dispatching them to the manufacturer/OEM for factory repairs, following up continuously on turn-around times, and keeping hospital clients fully updated until unit return and validation.

Requirements

Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.

Experience: 1–3 years of field service or application support experience in medical devices or surgical equipment (Fresh graduates with clinical/biomedical internships are welcome).

Skills: Strong diagnostic aptitude, organized administrative skills (reporting & quoting), and excellent communication for managing hospital stakeholders and principal vendors.

Mobility: Valid Class D driving license and own vehicle for hospital site visits.
