About the role

We are seeking a talented and passionate Barista to join the team at Restaurant Monohaus in Bayan Lepas, Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional coffee experiences to our guests. As a Barista, you will be at the heart of our beverage service, crafting high-quality espresso-based drinks and specialty beverages whilst creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers. Your expertise and attention to detail will significantly contribute to our reputation for excellence in the hospitality and tourism industry.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a wide variety of coffee beverages, including espresso drinks, filter coffee, and specialty beverages with consistency and precision
• Operate and maintain espresso machines and other coffee-making equipment to the highest standards
• Take customer orders in a friendly and efficient manner, providing recommendations based on customer preferences
• Manage the coffee station, ensuring all equipment is clean, well-stocked, and in proper working order
• Develop and maintain strong knowledge of different coffee origins, brewing methods, and flavour profiles
• Provide excellent customer service, engaging with guests and ensuring their satisfaction
• Adhere to health, safety, and food hygiene standards at all times
• Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth operations during busy service periods
• Handle cash and card transactions accurately and securely

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as a Barista in a fast-paced hospitality environment
• Excellent knowledge of espresso-based drinks and coffee preparation techniques
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage and build rapport with guests
• Proficiency in operating espresso machines and other coffee equipment
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality beverages
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
• Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous
• A friendly, outgoing personality and positive attitude towards work
• Ability to work efficiently during peak hours and manage time effectively
• Relevant barista certification or formal coffee training is preferred
• Flexibility to work shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and public holidays
