Job summary

Technology Bucket is seeking a Backup, Storage/NAS and Data Centre Administrator to manage enterprise backup and storage infrastructure in a regulated insurance setting. You will ensure compliance with ICT standards and BNM RMiT guidelines across Production, DR and Development environments.

You will administer SAN and NAS platforms, configure Fibre Channel, iSCSI and NFS, monitor capacity and performance, and lead DR exercises.

Qualifications

• Diploma in computer science, IT or equivalent.
• 2+ years in a System Administrator/related role.
• Strong knowledge of backup, storage and data centre technologies.
• Experience in Windows/Linux environments and virtualization (VMware, Oracle KVM, OpenShift).
• Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident/Change/Problem) and security concepts.
• Certifications in Data Centre, Windows, VMware, ITIL or similar are a plus.

Backup, Storage/NAS and Data Centre Administrator

Backup, Storage/NAS and Data Centre Administrator role responsible for administering and maintaining enterprise backup, storage, and data centre infrastructure in an insurance environment. The role involves ensuring compliance with ICT policies, regulatory requirements including BNM RMiT, and managing critical infrastructure operations across Production, DR and Development environments.

Key responsibilities

Ensure compliance with ICT policies, standards, security guidelines and regulatory requirements, including BNM RMiT

Administer SAN, NAS and hyperconverged storage platforms, including provisioning LUNs, datastores, storage pools and file shares

Configure Fibre Channel, iSCSI and NFS connectivity

Monitor capacity, latency and storage performance, and perform firmware upgrades, patching, snapshots, replication and cloning

Administer, monitor and maintain the Company's enterprise backup and recovery solution

Monitor daily backup jobs and investigate, troubleshoot and resolve backup failures and restore issues within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA)

Perform backup verification, restoration testing and backup health checks

Administer Production, DR and Development Data Centre environments, monitoring power, cooling, racks and environmental alerts

Lead capacity planning and technology refresh initiatives, and evaluate emerging infrastructure technologies

Participate in Disaster Recovery exercises and recovery operations, monitoring replication health and ensuring Production-to-DR replication operates successfully

Must possess at least a diploma in computer science, IT or equivalent

At least 2 years as a System Administrator, System Engineer, or Subject Matter Expert relevant to the position applied for

Excellent knowledge of system administration roles and technologies of backup (Veem/NetBackup), storage/NAS (HPE/IBM/Lenovo) and data centre

Experience in Windows/Linux environment and virtualisation technologies (VMware, Oracle KVM, Linux OpenShift)

Excellent knowledge of the ITIL framework, such as Incident, Change and Problem management

Experience with security concepts and technologies (authentication, authorization, encryption, digital signature), SSL, web service proxies, firewalls, multi-protocol gateways and VPN

Good understanding of Disaster Recovery and BCP activities

Experience in Enterprise IT infrastructure and system environments, especially in the Banking/Insurance sector, is an added advantage

Knowledge of BNM RMIT guidelines is an added advantage

Any certifications in Data Centre, Windows, VMware, Cloud, IT Security, ITIL, Veeam, Storage/NAS
