Job summary

ams OSRAM Malaysia in Bayan Lepas is seeking an AVI Equipment Reliability Engineer to own and drive the performance, reliability, and availability of AVI equipment. You will provide leadership and knowledge sharing to engineers and technicians, and lead troubleshooting and preventive maintenance programs.

The role requires strong experience with AVI/AOI/ Vision Inspection equipment, technology transfer, and applying Industry 4.0 concepts to improve uptime, quality, and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Electrical/Mechanical/Automation or equivalent.
• Minimum 4–5 years in semiconductor manufacturing equipment engineering.
• Experience with AVI, AOI, Vision Inspection, or Metrology equipment.
• Experience leading equipment installation, qualification, and technology transfer projects.
• Knowledge of Industry 4.0, automation, data analytics, or machine learning in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of equipment reliability engineering, OEE, MTBF/MTTR, SPC, FDC, and process control methodologies.
• Proficient in structured problem-solving and continuous improvement (8D, FMEA, DMAIC, Lean, Six Sigma).
• Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Independent with initiative and good analytical skills.

Job description

Own and drive overall performance, reliability, and availability of AVI equipment to achieve operational targets. Serve as the technical expert for AVI equipment, providing leadership, coaching, and knowledge sharing to engineers and technicians.

Key responsibilities

Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions for equipment-related issues

Develop, optimize, and sustain preventive maintenance and machine health monitoring programs

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment uptime, productivity, quality, and cost efficiency

Lead equipment installation, qualification, upgrades, and technology transfer activities

Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process, R&D, Quality, and vendors to resolve technical issues and improve equipment capability

Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards while supporting automation and digitalization initiatives

About you

Bachelor's degree in Electronic/Electrical, Mechanical, Automation or equivalent

Minimum 4-5 years of working experience in semiconductor manufacturing equipment engineering

Experience with AVI, AOI, Vision Inspection, or Metrology equipment

Experience leading equipment installation, qualification, and technology transfer projects

Knowledge of Industry 4.0, automation, data analytics, or machine learning applications in manufacturing

Strong knowledge of equipment reliability engineering, OEE, MTBF, MTTR, SPC, FDC, and process control methodologies

Proficient in structured problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies, including 8D, FMEA, DMAIC, Lean, and Six Sigma tools

Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia

Independent with self initiative, good analytical skill and able to work under minimum supervision
