Job summary

ams OSRAM in Penang seeks an experienced equipment engineer to own AVI equipment performance, reliability, and availability to meet targets. You will lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions for equipment issues.

The role requires hands-on experience with vision inspection systems, optics, imaging technologies and automation equipment, plus development of preventive maintenance, machine health monitoring, and cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Electrical, Mechanical, Automation or equivalent.
• 4–5 years in semiconductor manufacturing equipment engineering.
• Experience with vision inspection systems, optics, imaging technologies and automation equipment.
• Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive overall performance, reliability, and availability of AVI equipment to achieve targets.
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for equipment issues.
• Develop, optimize, and sustain preventive maintenance and machine health programs.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance uptime, productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
• Lead equipment installation, qualification, upgrades, and technology transfer.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process, R&D, Quality, and vendors to resolve issues and improve capability.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching, and knowledge sharing to engineers and technicians.
• Ensure safety, environmental, and quality standards while supporting automation and digitalization initiatives.

Your new responsibilities

• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process, R&D, Quality, and vendors to resolve technical issues and improve equipment capability.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching, and knowledge sharing to engineers and technicians.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards while supporting automation and digitalization initiatives.

What we look for

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Electrical, Mechanical, Automation or equivalent.
• Minimum 4-5 years of working experience in semiconductor manufacturing equipment engineering.
• Experience with vision inspection systems, optics, imaging technologies and automation equipment.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of vision inspection systems, optics, imaging technologies and automation equipment.
• Skilled in OEE, SPC, FDC, 8D problem solving, FMEA, DMAIC, TWI.
• Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Able to work with all levels of people from various department with good command.
• Independent with self initiative, good analytical skill and able to work under minimum supervision.
