Qualifications

• Formal qualifications in automotive mechanics or a recognised equivalent certification.
• Proven experience as automotive mechanic (2–3 years).
• Familiarity with engines, transmissions, electrical, braking and suspension systems.

Responsabilités

• Diagnose vehicle problems through testing and inspection using diagnostic equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, brake inspections and fluid checks.
• Repair and replace faulty components including engines, transmissions, suspension and electrical systems.
• Conduct brake system inspections and repairs to ensure vehicle safety.
• Service air conditioning systems and related repairs.
• Complete service paperwork accurately and communicate findings to customers.
• Adhere to safety standards and maintain a clean, organised workshop environment.
• Keep up to date with new vehicle technologies and repair techniques.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Mechanic to join the team at TSM Automobile Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Tawau District, Sabah. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicles to the highest standards, ensuring customer satisfaction and vehicle safety. You will play a crucial part in our service operations, delivering quality workmanship and maintaining our reputation for excellence in automotive repairs and maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose vehicle problems through comprehensive testing and inspection using appropriate diagnostic equipment
• Perform routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, brake inspections, and fluid level checks
• Repair and replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and electrical systems
• Conduct brake system inspections and repairs to ensure vehicle safety
• Service air conditioning systems and perform related repairs
• Perform welding and fabrication work where necessary
• Complete service paperwork accurately and communicate findings to customers
• Adhere to safety standards and workshop procedures at all times
• Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment
• Keep up to date with new vehicle technologies and repair techniques

What we're looking for

• Formal qualifications in automotive mechanics or a recognised equivalent certification
• Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience working as an automotive mechanic
• Strong knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, electrical, braking, and suspension
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment
• Ability to read and interpret technical service manuals and workshop documentation
• Sound understanding of health and safety regulations in automotive workshops
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical issues to customers
• Physical ability to perform demanding mechanical tasks and work in various positions
• A valid driving licence is desirable
• Experience with both petrol and diesel vehicles is advantageous
