Job summary
STMicroelectronics is seeking an Automation Technician in Malaysia to install, configure, and optimize automation equipment and control systems across manufacturing operations.
The role involves coordinating with mechanical, electrical, and software aspects, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting across PLCs, HMIs, and robotics to minimize downtime and improve performance.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Automation Technology or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Knowledge of automation software and control systems, including PLCs and HMIs.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical/mechanical schematics and drawings.
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for automation issues.
- Good communication and teamwork with automation, operations, DIT, and vendors.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and optimize automation equipment and control systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair automation issues (mechanical, electrical, software).
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to avoid downtime.
- Program/configure PLCs, robotic systems, and other control platforms.
- Update software/firmware to support new manufacturing needs.
- Test systems to ensure performance and compliance.
- Calibrate sensors, actuators, and related components.
- Maintain records of maintenance, downtime, and incidents.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors for resolution.
