Job summary

Vantris Energy Berhad is seeking a capable in-house lawyer to support the Litigation Department with a focus on contracts, court litigation, arbitration, and project disputes within the oil & gas sector.

The role requires 2–5 years of relevant experience, strong knowledge of litigation, corporate and commercial matters, and regulatory compliance awareness. Malaysian Bar eligibility is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• LLB (Hons) degree in Law.
• Certificate of Legal Practice or equivalent.
• Called to the Malaysian Bar (preferred but not mandatory).
• 2–5 years of experience in legal firm or in-house legal department.
• Experience in oil & gas or related industries.
• Strong knowledge of litigation, corporate law and commercial matters.

Responsibilities

• Managing and resolving legal issues in contract, court litigation, arbitration and other proceedings.
• Liaising with external counsels for matters involving litigation, arbitration, adjudication, disputes and related matters.
• Carrying out research on case law, guidelines and regulations for identified legal issues.
• Providing legal risk guidance to business units and management.
• Establishing processes related to drafting, negotiations and commercial settlements.
• Reviewing and advising on internal policies for compliance with legal requirements.
• Managing legal reporting on litigation to management and board.
• Providing legal advice to internal stakeholders for project and non-project matters.
• Undertaking any other tasks assigned by HOD and CGC from time to time.

Job description

• To assist the Litigation Department within Group Legal with matters within the purview of the Litigation Department

Key Accountabilities

• Managing and resolving legal issues in contract, court litigation, arbitration, adjudication and other modes of legal proceedings.
• Liaising with company’s appointed external counsels for matter involving court litigation, arbitration, adjudication, project disputes etc.
• Carrying out analysis and recommending appropriate courses of action for identified legal issues including research on case law, guidelines and any other regulations applicable to any legal matters.
• Managing legal risks within the business by providing legal advice to the respective business units as well as to the management.
• Establishing and implementing legal processes relating to legal drafting, negotiations and commercial settlements.
• Reviewing and advising management on the legal implications of internal policies/procedures and ensuring compliance with the legal requirements.
• Managing various legal reporting on litigation and other legal proceedings to the management and board members.
• Providing various legal advice to the internal stakeholders for matters related to project and non- project.
• Undertaking any other tasks assigned by HOD and CGC from time to time.

Qualifications / Certifications:
