Job summary

Pasar Raya Matahari, a premier retail and wholesale supermarket operator in the Klang Valley, seeks an Assistant Supervisor to oversee daily department operations, ensure product freshness and proper labeling, and assist with stock ordering and receiving.

The role requires 1–2 years in supermarket or food handling, basic food safety knowledge, and strong communication. You will train new staff and uphold hygiene while supporting shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (certificate or diploma in food handling, retail, or hospitality preferred).
• 1–2 years of experience in supermarket or food handling (fresh/frozen/seafood/meat section preferred).
• Basic knowledge of food safety standards and product handling.
• Good communication, teamwork, and time management skills.
• Physically fit and able to work in cold environments.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Supervisor in overseeing the daily operations of the department.
• Check and maintain product freshness, temperature, and quality.
• Ensure proper product rotation, labeling, and display to company standards.
• Help with ordering, receiving, and storing stock according to food safety rules.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages or overstock situations.
• Support and guide team members in their daily duties.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all work areas, chillers, and freezers.
• Follow food safety, health, and hygiene regulations.
• Provide friendly and efficient service to customers.
• Assist in training new staff and maintaining team discipline and efficiency.
