Job summary

Aluminium Company of Malaysia (ALCOM) is seeking an experienced Procurement Leader to manage non-metal materials, MRO items, spare parts and services across domestic and international suppliers. You will develop sourcing strategies to ensure supply continuity and cost efficiency, review quotations, negotiate terms, and coordinate with Legal on supplier agreements.

Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Production and Finance to ensure timely procurement for CAPEX and expansion projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in procurement, supply chain, business administration, operations management or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of experience in procurement or related field.
• Strong planning, leadership, communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience in supplier sourcing, contract management and procurement planning.
• Sustainable procurement experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Procure non-metal materials, MRO items, spare parts, consumables, services and indirect materials.
• Source, evaluate, negotiate and manage local and international suppliers for price and quality.
• Develop sourcing strategies to ensure supply continuity and cost optimisation.
• Review quotations, negotiate terms, and coordinate contracts with Legal.
• Lead CAPEX procurement for machinery and engineering services from sourcing to delivery.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Finance to ensure timely procurement.
• Ensure compliance with policies, governance, and audit requirements.
• Support ESG and Sustainable Procurement initiatives.
• Maintain procurement documentation for audits.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive development initiatives.

Job description

• Manage the procurement of non-metal materials, maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) items, engineering spare parts, consumables, services, and other indirect materials required to support business operations.
• Source, evaluate, negotiate, and manage local and international suppliers to achieve competitive pricing, quality, delivery, and service performance.
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies to ensure supply continuity, cost optimisation, and supplier reliability.
• Review supplier quotations, conduct commercial evaluations, negotiate terms and conditions, and coordinate supplier agreements and contract reviews with the Legal personnel where required.
• Lead procurement activities for capital expenditure (CAPEX), expansion projects, and special projects, including the sourcing, tendering, commercial evaluation, negotiation, purchasing, and delivery of new machinery, equipment, production lines, plant utilities, and engineering services.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, Project Management, Finance, Warehouse, and other stakeholders to ensure timely procurement and project execution.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, corporate governance, statutory requirements, and internal/external audit requirements.
• Support the implementation of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Sustainable Procurement initiatives in accordance with the Company's sustainability objectives.
• Support procurement-related internal, external, customer, ISO, and ESG audits by maintaining complete procurement documentation and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance and establish supplier development initiatives to improve quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost competitiveness.

Requirements

• Candidate must possess at least Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 7 Year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
• Required Skill(s): Planning Skills, Leadership Skills, Communication Skills, Negotiation Skills
• Preferable candidate with 3 years of managerial experience.
• Proven experience in supplier sourcing, commercial negotiations, contract management, and procurement planning.
• Strong knowledge of procurement principles, sourcing strategies, and supplier management.
• Experience in Sustainable Procurement is an added advantage.
