Job summary

E XING PRECISION DESIGN SDN. BHD. in Butterworth, Penang, Malaysia, invites applications for an Assistant/Mechanical Design Engineer. This full-time role focuses on conceptualizing and developing jigs and fixtures for testing and manufacturing, with emphasis on CAD/CAM and GD&T proficiency.

You will plan projects, prepare BOMs, and collaborate with Sales Support on specifications and commissioning, while contributing to standards and documentation in a dynamic engineering team.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering.
• 1 year of relevant design experience in engineering industry.
• Proficiency in 2D CAD (AutoCAD/DraftSight) and 3D SolidWorks.
• Good understanding of GD&T for 2D dimensions.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software and industrial components specs.
• Independent worker with strong teamwork and design passion.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design and develop jigs and fixtures per customer specs.
• Provide design solutions and proposals to meet objectives.
• Plan projects, prepare BOMs, cost/timing estimates, and specs.
• Support sales with project specs, design, and commissioning.
• Create detailed fabrication, assembly and layout drawings.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards and docs.
• Generate post-docs from CAD/CAM for CNC manufacturing.
• Handle adhoc tasks assigned by management.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant/Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at E XING PRECISION DESIGN SDN. BHD. in Butterworth Penang. This is a full-time position where you will play a crucial role in the design and development of complex mechanical systems.

What you’ll be doing

• Responsible to conceptualize, design and develop Jigs & Fixtures to meet customers’ specification requirement for In-Circuit and Functional Testing
• Set up conceptualization design, and provide technical solutions and proposal to achieve customers’ objectives
• Plan and manage projects, and prepare bill of material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for machinery and systems
• Assist Sales Support to liaise with Customer on project specification, design and commissioning
• Prepare detail fabrication, assembly and layout drawings
• Assist to develop and maintain engineering standards and documentations
• Generate post document from CAD/CAM software for CNC manufacturing
• Any adhoc tasks assigned by Management

What we’re looking for

Minimum Diplomae in Mechanical/ Mechatronics/Manufacturing/ Industrial Engineering

1 year of relevant design, preferably in the Engineering industry

Proficiency in Mechanical Design Software in 2D AutoCAD/Draftsight or equivalent, and 3D SolidWorks

Good knowledge & understanding of GD&T for 2D Dimensioning

Proficiency in relevant field CAD/CAM software

Possess strong technical knowledge of industrial mechanical components specification

Able to work both independently and as a team player

Have a passion for equipment and jig design
