Job summary

The Pacific Insurance Berhad in Kuala Lumpur seeks an experienced underwriting specialist to support motor underwriting through risk assessment, data analysis, and process improvements. You will review submissions, analyse profitability before acceptance, and assist with system enhancements and regulatory reporting, with training for staff and collaboration with IT on Tableau dashboards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or General Insurance qualification is required.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in Motor Underwriting.
• Good understanding of the General Insurance Industry.
• Good understanding of how General Insurance systems operate.
• Intermediate to Advanced level in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).

Responsibilities

• Review business referral risk submissions from Marketers and ensure risks are within the company's guideline and risk appetite for risk acceptance.
• Analyse motor fleet insurance applications to determine profitability before acceptance of the whole account.
• Enhance systems for new products and functionalities by providing business requirements to system developers, developing and executing UAT test plans based on business requirements.
• Maintenance of underwriting tables in systems, including adding and updating underwriting rules, controls, vehicle market valuation data and vehicle makes & models.
• Conduct periodical audits to ensure compliance with BNM and Motor Underwriting Guidelines.
• Review policy wordings for new products and endorsement wordings for add-ons.
• Assist with the write-up and publishing of circulars to inform relevant parties on underwriting changes.
• Assist to enhance Tableau by providing requirements to create new dashboards for data analysis purposes and improve functionalities.
• Conduct training to internal staff.
• Generate ad-hoc regulatory reports as and when required.

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in Motor Underwriting.
• Good understanding of the General Insurance Industry.
• Good understanding of how General Insurance systems operate.
• Intermediate to Advanced level in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point and Words)
