Job summary

Saint-Gobain Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking an Assistant Purchasing Manager to support and optimize procurement and supply chain operations. You will lead cross-functional teams in procurement, production planning, logistics and warehousing to improve efficiency and control working capital.

The role focuses on supplier performance, inventory optimization and cost-effective procurement to help achieve financial targets and KPIs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Business Admin/Finance/Economy or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years in a multinational environment with ERP exposure.
• Ability to interpret instructions and deliver results.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Supply Chain services to meet financial KPIs.
• Develop and coach teams across procurement, production planning, logistics and warehousing.
• Maintain internal controls for delivered price, inventory and finished goods movement.
• Drive working capital management by reviewing supplier terms and stock levels.
• Collaborate on regional/global SC initiatives to optimize group leverage.
• Ensure timely reports to support decision making and performance tracking.
• Identify process improvements and innovations across the supply chain.

Job description

To support and manage purchasing and supply chain operations by ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and efficient procurement of materials, goods, and services required for business operations.

The role is responsible for optimizing inventory levels, supplier performance, logistics, and production planning while contributing to the achievement of organizational financial targets, operational KPIs, and compliance requirements.

The Assistant Purchasing Manager works closely with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, enhance supply chain efficiency, maintain effective internal controls, and support business growth through strategic sourcing and working capital management.

Key Accountabilities

Manage and provide Supply Chain services to ensure the business meets its financial commitments and metrics as stated in Business Plan. Provide continuous support and expertise to help business teams understand the performance and improving on the organization KPI.

Leadership and development of Supply Chain teams in purcurement/production planning/logistics/warehouse including training in key areas in order to improve operational capability.

Provide support and guidance to ensure internal controls are maintained, ie identified delivered price, inventory control and consignment stock, finished goods movement,records management and to meet audit requirements.

Provide leadership in working capital management from Supply Chain point to view specifically in reviewing supplier's payment terms and finish goods/raw material inventory.

Participate in Regional/Global Supply Chain initiatives in order to take advantage of the best result from group leverage.

Provide the most cost effective quantities for both raw materials and finished good in supporting business growth and expansion.

Ensures accurate and timely reports, based at company demands at weekly/monthly and annually basis.

Improves the overall supply chain performance and looks for any possible innovations to be process.

Duties may vary from time to time consistent with the employee's training and skills such as varied duties are to be performed to standards which will be specified as required

Work closely and coordinate with all departments to ensure a smooth supply chain and logistics operation and activities.

Determine and establish factory capacity planning which includes managing planned orders, orders in process including setup and run time (from process plans) to meet customer requirements as well as maintaining good working capital.

Requirements

The incumbent must have a degree in Business Admin/Finance/Economy.

A minimum of 3 years experience in working in a multinational company with well verse in computer system i.e. ERP, SAP, Ariba, etc.

Ability to understand instruction and deliver to the expected result.
