Job summary

Funding Societies | Modalku is seeking an experienced Senior Operations Lead in Kuala Lumpur to oversee team leadership and the end-to-end drawdown and documentation workflow in a fast-paced fintech setting.

You will manage a 7-8 person team, implement process improvements with AI, and drive compliance with eKYC/AML standards while delivering on SLAs. This role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration and data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in fintech, digital lending, or banking back-office operations, including 3+ years in a team lead/supervisory role.
• Domain knowledge of credit end-to-end lifecycle, eKYC and AML basics; trade finance knowledge is a plus.
• Proven ability to adapt quickly to change and drive measurable process improvements with AI/automation.
• Strong coaching, communication, stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Data-driven mindset with proficiency in Excel, data analysis, and reporting tools (SQL, Power BI).
• Self-starter with high attention to detail and resilience in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

• Team Leadership & Operations
  • Lead, coach and manage a team of 7 to 8 members, driving accountability and growth, including hiring and onboarding a team lead.
  • Oversee end-to-end drawdown processing on approved trade line drawdown and documentation compliance, ensuring daily volumes are cleared within SLA.
  • Stay hands-on: complex or escalated cases, quality sampling, monthly audits, and cover during peaks or absences.
  • Set operational standards, checklists, maker-checker controls and workflows to ensure team accuracy and compliance.
  • Apply working knowledge of the credit framework and eKYC/AML requirements to daily processing and elevate to relevant parties where necessary.
• Process Improvement & AI
  • Map workflows across Tradeline and Compliance Ops to optimise operational efficiency.
  • Test, pilot and implement AI tools and automation solutions to streamline processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date process documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and train the team on changes.
• Reporting & Analytics
  • Build dashboards to track team KPIs, turnaround times, error rates, backlog and SLA compliance.
  • Analyse operational data to identify risks and present recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Prepare external stakeholder documentation.

Requirements

What we are looking for:

• Experience: 6+ years in fintech, digital lending, or banking back-office operations, including 3+ years in a team lead or supervisory role.
• Domain Knowledge: Working knowledge of credit end-to-end lifecycle (From origination to documentation workflows) and a basic understanding of eKYC and AML requirements. Specialized trade finance knowledge experience is a plus.
• Track Record: Proven ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment, and to use AI tools and automation to implement measurable process improvements.
• Leadership: Strong coaching, communication, stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Analytical Skills: Data-driven mindset proficient with Excel, data analysis and reporting tools (SQL, Power BI or technical AI skills are a plus).
• Key Traits: Self-starter with high attention to detail, strong resilience in fast-paced environments, quick to adapt, and a growth mindset.
