Private Advertiser in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Assistant Manager, Finance Business Partner to act as the financial advisor for the Asset Management business, driving profitability and strategic planning beyond traditional reporting.
You will lead budgeting and forecasting, build models to forecast AUM flows and fees, prepare board-ready insights, and develop KPIs, partnering with cross-functional teams to optimize capital allocation.
Act as the primary financial advisor to the business, overseeing the financial performance and strategic planning for the Asset Management business. You will transition beyond traditional reporting to provide actionable insights, driving business strategy, optimizing profitability, and supporting the leadership team in critical decision-making processes.
Job Responsibilities
1. Strategic Finance Business Partnering
Act as a trusted advisor to the Asset Management Business Heads, providing financial leadership and strategic insights to drive Assets Under Management (AUM) growth and revenue optimization.
Partner proactively with cross-functional teams (Investment, Sales, Product Development & Operations) to align financial targets with overall business strategy.
Challenge the status quo and provide commercial perspective on cost management, fee structuring, and resource allocation.
2. Financial Planning & Analysis (Budgeting & Forecasting)
Spearhead the annual budgeting and forecast processes for the asset management business.
Develop robust financial models to forecast AUM flows, management/performance fees, and operating expenses.
Monitor actual performance against budget/forecasts, providing comprehensive variance analysis and actionable recommendations to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
3. Business Case & Investment Evaluation
Lead the financial evaluation and modelling for broad business cases and new strategic initiatives across the asset management entities.
Provide comprehensive financial impact assessments for proposed projects, such as operational enhancements, digital initiatives, system upgrades, or new product offerings.
Assess CAPEX/OPEX investment proposals, performing ROI, IRR, and payback period analysis to ensure optimal capital allocation and track post-implementation benefits realization.
4. FP&A and Ad-Hoc Analytics
Prepare high-quality, insightful management reports and Board of Directors (BOD) presentation decks tailored for senior management.
Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to the asset management business.
Conduct competitor and peer benchmarking analysis within the Malaysian asset management landscape.
Drive continuous improvement in FP&A processes, leveraging technology to automate reporting and enhance data analytics capabilities.
Job Requirements
Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or professional accounting qualification (e.g., MIA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA).
Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting. Prior experience with Asset Management is an added advantage.
Proficient in financial modelling skills (Excel) and high proficiency in creating management dashboards and PowerPoint presentations.
Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills. Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, compelling narratives for non-finance business leaders.
