Job summary

Private Advertiser is seeking a Manager, Business Controlling to drive financial performance discussions, deliver insightful management reporting, and lead end-to-end FP&A cycles. The role focuses on product margins, customer profitability, and cost optimization to support strategic decisions.

The ideal candidate will have 5–8 years in controlling, strong analytical abilities, and proficiency in Power BI, Excel, and ERP/BI tools.

Qualifications

• University degree or professional qualification in Accounting or Finance.
• At least 5-8 years controlling experience in a progressively growing capacity.
• Membership with the CIMA/CPA/MIA or any other recognised professional body in Malaysia.
• Credibility to lead and challenge the business.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of the business.
• Proficiency in accounting principles, IFRS, and finance functions.
• Understanding of regulations and reporting requirements of a public listed company.
• Proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis tools (Excel, Oracle Netsuite/Hyperion, Power BI).
• Excellent communications skills to relay complex information clearly.

Responsibilities

Manager, Business Controlling is responsible for driving financial performance discussions with key stakeholders, providing financial insights and supporting decision‑making processes. The role leads the end‑to‑end financial planning cycle, develops dynamic financial models to simulate business scenarios, and delivers monthly, quarterly and annual management reports with actionable insights. The position involves analysing product margins and customer profitability, leading cost optimisation projects, managing financial risks, and evaluating capital investment proposals.

Key responsibilities

Business Partnering & Strategic Support

Drive financial performance discussions with key stakeholders, provide financial insights and support decision‑making processes.

Provide commercial support on pricing strategies, margin improvement, and customer profitability analysis.

Educate and upskill non-Finance stakeholders to raise financial awareness in the business.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

Lead the end-to-end financial planning cycle (Annual Budget, Rolling Forecasts, Strategic Plans, and asset impairment exercise).

Develop and maintain dynamic financial models to simulate business scenarios and support decision making and forecasting.

Develop and present monthly, quarterly and annual management reports, including KPI, financial metrics and variance analysis to explain business performance gaps and recommend corrective actions.

Business Performance Reporting & Insights

Design and deliver monthly business performance reports with actionable insights.

Translate complex financial data into clear and impactful storytelling for senior management.

Implement dashboards and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) to enhance decision‑making.

Profitability & Cost Management

Analyse product margins, customer profitability, and SKU performance to identify growth opportunities.

Lead cost optimisation projects to improve gross margin and operational efficiency.

Identify gaps and opportunities leading to cost savings, efficiency gains and improved performance.

Support product pricing strategies and recommend price adjustments based on margin analysis.

Proactively identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

Drive strong internal controls and compliance with policies, and corporate governance standards.

Ensure a strong controls and compliance environment in your area of scope and ensure full compliance with our policies.

Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure audit readiness.

Investment Appraisal & Business Cases

Develop financial models to evaluate capital investment proposals, new product launches, and commercial initiatives.

Develop scorecards or relevant analytical reports for business performance review on approved investments (Capex & Projects ROI).

Strategic Financial Planning

Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis for strategic initiatives, investments, and M&A activities.

Evaluate capital expenditure proposals and ensure disciplined allocation of resources.

Support long‑term business sustainability through financial risk assessments and planning.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A university degree/professional qualification in Accounting or Finance

At least 5- 8 years controlling experience in a progressively growing capacity

Strong business acumen and understanding of the business

Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and procedures, international financial reporting standards, economics, and finance functions

Understanding of the regulations and reporting requirements of a public listed company

Proficiency in financial modelling, spreadsheet designs and analysis software (e.g., Excel, Oracle Netsuite/Hyperion, Power BI).

Excellent command of communications skills, able to relay complex information and analyses in a precise and clear manner

Ability to network and communicate with employees of all levels across all functions

High level of discretion

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with keen eye for details.

Willing to work in Pulau Indah, Klang.
