Description
Financial Accounting & Month-End Closing
- Oversee day-to-day financial accounting activities, including general ledger, journal entries, accruals, payroll-related entries, reclassifications, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage month-end and year-end financial closing activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting.
- Review key balance sheet accounts and clearing activities to ensure appropriate accounting treatment and timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Prepare monthly Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and other management reports, providing clear commentary on key financial movements.
- Review complex or non-routine accounting transactions and ensure compliance with applicable accounting policies and standards.
- Continuously strengthen closing processes, reconciliations, and overall reporting accuracy.
Inventory Accounting & Control
- Oversee inventory-related accounting and ensure inventory balances are accurately reflected in the financial records.
- Review inventory movements, stock turn, sampling and cycle count results, excess and obsolete inventory, rebates, scrap, and write-offs.
- Analyse inventory trends and identify potential financial or operational risks.
- Partner with Warehouse, Production, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to strengthen inventory accuracy and controls.
- Participate in physical inventory and cycle count activities and ensure differences are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Management Reporting & Business Partnering
- Deliver timely and accurate financial and operational reporting to support management decision-making.
- Prepare departmental cost center reports and lead periodic reviews with relevant budget owners.
- Provide actionable analysis on costs, margins, variances, inventory, and operational performance.
- Partner with functional leaders to improve cost visibility, financial accountability, and budget management.
- Translate complex financial information into practical insights and recommendations for non-finance stakeholders.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial and operational analysis to support strategic and business decisions.
Treasury, Cash Flow & Intercompany
- Monitor cash positions and support cash flow reporting and treasury-related activities.
- Review outgoing payments for accuracy, authorisation, completeness, and adherence to internal controls.
- Manage relevant foreign currency transactions and ensure appropriate accounting of FX-related activities.
- Oversee intercompany accounting, including billing, payments, debit and credit notes, reconciliations, and settlement of intercompany balances.
- Manage relevant bank administration activities, including bank guarantee processes and renewals.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes, including cost assumptions, operational rates, labor costs, and cost center planning.
- Prepare cost estimates and comparative analysis to support business and operational planning.
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts, highlighting key deviations and underlying drivers.
- Partner with operational teams to improve budgeting accuracy and cost discipline.
Audit, Controls & Statutory Compliance
- Coordinate financial schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for interim and year-end audits.
- Act as a key point of contact for external auditors and respond to financial and operational audit queries.
- Support internal audit activities and ensure timely closure of identified findings.
- Maintain robust accounting policies, financial controls, procedures, and supporting documentation.
- Support applicable statutory, regulatory, tax, and electronic invoicing requirements.
- Prepare relevant regulatory reporting and ensure submissions are completed accurately and within required timelines.
- Ensure financial activities comply with applicable accounting standards, company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
Profile
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, CA, or equivalent would be highly advantageous.
Experience
- Relevant progressive experience across Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Manufacturing Finance, or Management Accounting.
- Strong experience within a manufacturing or production-driven environment is highly preferred.
- Practical experience in standard costing, inventory accounting, manufacturing variance analysis, PPV, budgeting, and management reporting.
- Strong understanding of month-end closing, general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial controls.
- Experience with intercompany accounting, audit support, and statutory reporting.
- Experience using SAP S/4HANA or SAP FI, preferably alongside costing and manufacturing-related modules.
- Exposure to multi-entity or regional operations would be advantageous.
