This is a full-time, on-site Senior Accountant role based in Petaling Jaya. The Senior Accountant will manage financial records, oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensure compliance with accounting regulations, and lead the month-end closing process. Additional responsibilities include analyzing financial data, supervising accounting staff, supporting audits, and assisting with budget preparation and forecasting. The role also involves identifying opportunities for process improvements to enhance financial efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Handle full set of accounts including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), General Ledger (GL), cash book, bank reconciliation, and monthly closing activities.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management reports, financial statements, and supporting schedules for management review.
- Manage daily cash flow operations, monitor bank balances, and ensure sufficient funding for operational requirements.
- Ensure all accounting entries, invoices, payment vouchers, and supporting documents are properly verified and recorded in the accounting system.
- Prepare debtors, creditors, and bank reconciliation together with variance analysis.
- Assist in annual budgeting, revenue forecasting, operational cost monitoring, and financial analysis.
- Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, company secretaries, government authorities, and other relevant parties on accounting and statutory matters.
- Support statutory audits, tax submissions, and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare project profit computation and revenue recognition in compliance with MFRS standards where applicable.
- Review and recommend improvements to internal controls, accounting processes, and operational efficiency.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant working experience in accounting and finance functions, preferably in a group development.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and statutory compliance.
- Preferably with hands-on experience in taxation, SST, withholding tax, audit coordination, and transfer pricing documentation.
- Experience in handling full set accounts, monthly closing, management reporting, and financial analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting systems such as Microsoft NAV, UBS, or other systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with external parties including auditors, tax agents, bankers, and government authorities.
