The Assistant Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall finance and accounting functions of the company. This includes ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, managing cash flow, supervising the accounting team, and providing financial insights to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the Accounts Department.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing.
- Monitor the company's cash flow and financial position.
- Develop and implement financial policies and internal controls.
- Prepare management reports, financial analysis, and performance reports.
- Provide financial recommendations to Management.
- Monitor budgets, expenses, and profitability.
- Conduct variance analysis between budget and actual performance.
- Ensure compliance with the Companies Act, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, company secretaries, bankers, and government authorities.
- Oversee annual statutory audits and tax submissions.
- Ensure timely submission of SST, income tax, withholding tax, e-Invoice, and other statutory filings.
- Monitor bank balances and cash flow projections.
- Manage banking facilities and financing arrangements.
- Review payment schedules and approve payments.
- Ensure efficient management of accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure statutory deductions are accurate.
- Ensure timely payment of EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB, and other statutory contributions.
- Review staff claims, reimbursements, and commission payments.
- Lead, supervise, and develop the Accounts team.
- Assign work, monitor performance, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Provide coaching and training to team members.
- Ensure proper segregation of duties and workflow efficiency.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in the property, real estate, or property agency industry is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of commission-based accounting and project/property transactions is preferred.
- Experience with SQL accouting system and finance digitalisation projects is advantageous.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ICAEW, or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum 8–10 years of accounting and finance experience, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian Private Entities Reporting Standards (MPERS), tax regulations, SST, e-Invoice requirements, and statutory compliance.
- Experience in budgeting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and audit.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
