Job summary

MEP Enviro Technology Sdn Bhd is seeking an Assistant Chemist/Laboratory Technician in Penang to perform routine analytical testing and daily support for the chemistry team.

You will handle sample receipt, digestion, titrations, and assist with AAS/ICP analysis while upholding GLP and safety standards in a busy lab environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, applied science or related field.
• 1-3 years of lab experience; fresh graduates encouraged.
• Familiar with basic laboratory techniques and GLP awareness.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive, log, verify and organize incoming test samples with chain of custody.
• Perform wet digestion, titrations and standard sample prep per SOPs.
• Assist chemists with sample analysis using AAS and ICP instruments.
• Maintain lab safety, cleanliness and routine equipment upkeep.

Requirement

• 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in an industrial, chemical, or waste management environment (fresh graduates are encouraged to apply).
• Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques.

• Ability to perform tasks independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willing and able to work 6 days a week (Monday to Saturday), with one scheduled rest day per week.

Job Summary

The Assistant Chemist/ Laboratory Technician performs routine analytical testing and provides daily technical support to the chemistry team. Primary responsibilities include receiving and verifying incoming samples, conducting wet digestion and titrations, and assisting Chemists with sample analysis using AAS and ICP instrumentation while maintaining lab safety and compliance standards.

Job Description

• Receive, log, verify, and organize incoming test samples to ensure accurate tracking and chain of custody.
• Perform wet digestion and standard sample preparation procedures according to SOPs.
• Assist Chemists in sample analysis using analytical instruments such as AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy) and ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma).
• Perform standard titrations, volumetric analyses, and reagent preparations.
• Assist Chemists with data logging, routine lab upkeep, standard solution preparations, and basic equipment maintenance.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
