Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Laboratory Technician/Assistant Chemist to support the Chemist team by collecting and preparing samples for refinery processes and maintaining wastewater treatment operations. You will oversee sample handling, records, and lab workflow while ensuring compliance and collaboration across teams.

The role requires a Diploma/Degree in a related field and 1–3 years lab experience, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related scientific field preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in industrial, chemical, or wastewater treatment environments (fresh graduates encouraged).
• Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills.
• Ability to perform tasks independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willing and able to work 6 days a week (Mon-Sat) with one rest day per week.

Responsibilities

• Collect and verify incoming samples.
• Register and maintain sample records in the laboratory management system.
• Perform sample preparation procedures (wet digestion, filtration, etc.).
• Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of samples and reagents.
• Maintain laboratory housekeeping.
• Collaborate with chemists, operations and environmental teams.
• Conduct routine monitoring and sampling of wastewater treatment plant performance.
• Record and report operational parameters, test results and abnormalities.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Support troubleshooting and optimization of wastewater treatment processes.

Key Responsibilities
