AmBank Group seeks an experienced RPG/AS400 specialist to enhance and support the Broking System and related trading interfaces. The role emphasizes stability, integration across eAMS, MAS & AMSMART, and continued system modernization.
You will contribute to on-going Group projects involving RPG-based applications, ensuring system reliability during trading hours and across end-of-day processes. A strong background in Equity/Derivatives domains is essential.
Directly responsible for the enhancement and support of the Broking System, with a focus on ensuring stability and seamless integration across Broking applications. The role involves providing day-to-day application support for Equities Trading systems used by AmInvestment Bank, specifically the IB Equity Back-Office System (eAMS), Margin Application System (MAS & AMSMART), and all related internal and external system interfaces. This includes participation in Group-level projects involving RPG-based applications and enhancing the Broking System to ensure seamless integration with other source systems and to improve operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities
Support the BNM RMIT mission-critical Broking System, which serves as the system of record for all broking transactions and supports downstream integrations including trade capture, settlement, margining, corporate actions, GL posting, and regulatory reporting
Ensure the Broking System remains fully functional and available during trading hours
Design, develop, maintain, and enhance existing RPG applications using RPG III and RPG IV (RPG/LE and Free-Format)
Develop new programs based on business requirements, update legacy code with minimal documentation, and refactor or modernize existing RPG components
Exercise technical decision-making authority, including defining program architecture, code structure, and data model changes
Support broking business operations through code enhancements covering trade lifecycle processes, margin calls, forced sell-down activities, corporate actions, and the calculation of fees, commissions, and interest
Provide support for end-of-day, end-of-month, and end-of-financial-year batch processing activities
Ensure strict adherence to cut-off time requirements to guarantee timely contract generation, CDS settlement, and completion of end-of-day batches before the next trading session begins
Implement and support regulatory and exchange-mandated changes, including updates arising from Bursa rule amendments
Serve as part of the L2/L3 production support team in addition to project delivery responsibilities, including participation in an on-call rotation
About you
20 years of IT experience in Application Development and Application Support
15 years of hands‑on development experience in RPG, including system integration with other platforms
15 years of application support experience on the AS/400 (IBM i) platform
Proficient in using DB2/400, CL programs, and job scheduling tools
Deep understanding of Equity, Derivatives products, margin financing & settlement cycles
Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
20 years of experience supporting Broking Application Systems in the financial services domain (additional advantage)
20 years of domain knowledge in Equities and Derivatives market operations (additional advantage)
