Job summary

Michael Page Malaysia is seeking an experienced IT professional to own and evolve the Policy Asia system within the General Insurance ecosystem. You will analyze requirements, translate them into scalable technical solutions, and collaborate across SDLC stages to ensure quality and reliability.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years hands-on Policy Asia experience, deep GI domain knowledge, and strong skills in Smart COBOL, SQL/DB2, AS400/IBMi, and BusinessObjects.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years hands-on experience with the Policy Asia system.
• Strong experience in General Insurance business processes.
• Proficient in Smart COBOL, SQL/DB2, AS400/IBM i, and BusinessObjects.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, maintain, and support the Policy Asia system.
• Analyse requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Support GI products and related business functions.
• Investigate issues, perform root cause analysis, and fix resolutions.
• Ensure enhancements are scalable and maintainable.
• Collaborate across the SDLC from analysis to post-production support.
• Support system integration and data flows across related apps.

Job Description

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing, enhancing, maintaining, and supporting the Policy Asia system.
• Analysing business and functional requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
• Supporting General Insurance products and associated business functionalities.
• Investigating system issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing effective resolutions.
• Ensuring system enhancements are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with established development standards.
• Collaborating with stakeholders throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and post-production support.
• Supporting system integration processes and ensuring smooth data flow across related applications.

The Successful Applicant

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

• At least 8 years of hands-on experience with the Policy Asia system.
• Strong experience within the General Insurance (GI) industry and related business processes.
• Proven technical expertise in:
  • Smart COBOL
  • SQL / DB2
  • AS400 / IBM i
  • BusinessObjects
• Strong understanding of Policy Asia architecture, system integrations, and data flows.
• Solid functional knowledge across:
  • Policy Administration
  • Claims Management
  • Underwriting
  • Debtors & Receivables
  • Accounting
• Good understanding of the full SDLC, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, implementation, and support.
