Job summary

Oxydata Software Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced AS400 COBOL Developer for banking and payments solutions in Kuala Lumpur. The role involves designing, coding, testing, and maintaining AS400 COBOL modules, with emphasis on SQL/DB2 integration and production support.

You will collaborate with clients and stakeholders, analyse requirements, and implement robust technical solutions across the full SDLC, ensuring quality, security, and timely delivery in an onsite environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/SE or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on AS400 COBOL development experience.
• Strong COBOL/400 programming experience.
• Experience with IBM AS400 / IBM i and DB2.
• Experience in banking domain and payments workflows.
• End-to-end SDLC experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure, test, and maintain AS400 COBOL software modules and components.
• Analyse business and functional requirements to deliver effective technical solutions.
• Enhance and implement new functionalities in line with user and business requirements.
• Maintain and support existing AS400 applications within banking and payments environment.
• Troubleshoot, analyse, and resolve application defects and production issues.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle from analysis to production support.
• Write and optimise COBOL programs, SQL queries, and DB2 operations.
• Ensure deliverables meet quality, security, performance, and coding standards.
• Follow development methodologies and release processes.
• Collaborate with team to deliver work on time.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and provide services.
• Identify and elevate technical risks and issues as needed.
• Participate in code reviews and design sessions.
• Maintain technical documentation and test evidence.
