Job summary

China Railway Engineering Corporation (M) Sdn. Bhd., based in Malaysia, is hiring an Architectural QA/QC Engineer to carry out site inspections on the Penang Hill Cable Car Project, coordinate formal inspections and supervise defect rectification.

This full-time, site-based role is in Penang, Malaysia, and preference is given to candidates with hands-on experience in architectural finishes who can manage inspections and reinspections independently.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Architecture, Building Construction, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Able to read architectural drawings and clearly document inspection findings.
• Familiarity with architectural inspection procedures, RFWIs and defect close-out is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Inspect blockwork, plastering, skim coat, waterproofing, tiling, painting, and door and window installation against approved drawings, specifications, method statements and samples.
• Carry out internal checks before submitting Requests for Work Inspection (RFWIs). Prepare checklists and coordinate inspections with consultants and subcontractors.
• Record defects and non-conformances, follow up on rectification, and verify the corrective work before closing each item.
• Maintain inspection records, site photos and defect logs. Assist with mock-up inspections and preparation for QLASSIC assessments.
