Job summary

Reliable Business Technologies Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Application Database Administrator to manage Oracle application databases, ensure patches and security updates, and maintain SLAs during month-end processing.

The role collaborates with developers and infrastructure teams to optimize performance, patch deployments, and disaster recovery activities, supporting GL, AP, FA, and FAH applications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in Application Database Administration.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle Enterprise Business Suite (EBS).
• Strong experience with Oracle Database 12c, 19c or above.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle SQL or equivalent.
• Experience with Shell Scripting.
• Good understanding of database performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, and capacity planning.
• Experience supporting business-critical applications and meeting operational SLAs.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Oracle Application databases and newly acquired application databases.
• Monitor and optimize database performance to ensure fast response times and system stability.
• Monitor month-end batch execution and ensure batch processes are completed within agreed SLAs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues affecting business users, ensuring timely resolution and proper documentation.
• Perform and support application-related patch deployment and testing.
• Ensure database security patches and critical application patches are kept up to date.
• Plan and execute database housekeeping activities, including space management and capacity planning.
• Work closely with developers to identify long-running jobs and provide recommendations on execution plans and database tuning.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure and Security teams to address vulnerability findings through to resolution.
• Support Disaster Recovery (DR) activities, including simulations and actual DR exercises.

Job description

The Application Database Administrator (DBA) will ensure application-related critical patches and database security patches are up to date. The role involves ensuring database performance meets expectations, planning and executing housekeeping activities to prevent disruption, and monitoring database performance during month-end batch execution to ensure SLAs are met. The DBA will advise developers on long-running jobs and execution plans, address database-related issues affecting business users through to resolution, work closely with infrastructure teams to manage security vulnerability findings, manage and assist during Disaster Recovery activities, and provide timely updates to supervisors and stakeholders. The role supports Oracle Application databases and newly acquired application databases, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Fixed Assets (FA), and Financial Accounting Hub (FAH) applications.

About you

• Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in Application Database Administration
• Hands-on experience with Oracle Enterprise Business Suite (EBS)
• Strong experience with Oracle Database 12c, 19c or above
• Strong knowledge of Oracle SQL or equivalent
• Experience with Shell Scripting
• Good understanding of database performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, and capacity planning
• Experience supporting business-critical applications and meeting operational SLAs
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Logical thinking with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues
• Adaptable and able to work effectively in a team environment
