Job summary

Hitachi Energy Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Technical Specialist – Distribution Automation to drive pre-sales engineering for its APAC distribution portfolio.

You will engage utilities, consultants, and country teams to gather requirements, qualify opportunities, and secure product approvals for protection, control, automation and communications solutions. The role involves delivering technical demonstrations, partnering with sales for opportunity development, and traveling across the APAC

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in power systems, protection and control, substation automation, or distribution automation environments.
• Strong knowledge of protection relays.
• Experience working with utilities, industrial customers, or electrical network operators.
• Willingness to travel across APAC (approximately 25%).

Responsibilities

• Support technical pre-qualification activities for Distribution Automation opportunities across APAC.
• Engage with utilities, consultants, and end customers to understand technical requirements and secure product approvals.
• Provide technical expertise on protection, control, automation, and communication solutions for power distribution networks.
• Collaborate with country sales teams to evaluate opportunities, identify technical gaps, and develop solution recommendations.
• Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, workshops, and customer training programs.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including sales teams, engineers, channel partners, and global product teams.
• Support bid strategy discussions, technical reviews, and customer-facing technical engagements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, integrity, and regulatory requirements.
