PolicyStreet is seeking an Accounting professional in Kuala Lumpur to handle AP, GL and controls. The role requires degree-level accounting knowledge, strong reconciliation skills and experience with MS Office.

Xero is a bonus as the team supports monthly closings and management reporting in a fast-paced insurtech environment. You will join a dynamic finance team, work with data and close collaboratives to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with internal SOPs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or pursuing professional accounting papers.
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting.
• Good reconciliation and closing skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office is required, experience in the accounting software (Xero) is a bonus.

• Manage full AP cycle: invoice verification, coding, posting and payment processing
• Analyse transactions extracted from Data Warehouse and prepare the corresponding billing and journal entries.
• Perform weekly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support month-end and year-end closing.
• Assist in preparation of management reports and audit schedules.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal SOPs.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

A. Accounts Payable (AP)

• Manage full AP cycle: invoice verification, coding, posting and payment processing
• Ensure proper documentation and approval before payment
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
• Monitor AP aging and ensure timely settlement
• Maintain accurate filing and audit trail

B. General Ledger (GL)

• Analyse transactions extracted from Data Warehouse and prepare the corresponding billing and journal entries.
• Perform weekly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support month-end and year-end closing.
• Assist in preparation of management reports and audit schedules.

C. Controls & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal SOPs
• Maintain strong internal controls and proper documentation
• Identify and resolve reconciliation issues promptly

• Degree in Accounting or pursuing professional accounting papers.
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting.
• Good reconciliation and closing skills
• Proficiency in MS Office is required, experience in the accounting software (Xero) is a bonus.
• Self-motivated and able to work well both independently and in a team.
• Experience in financial reporting within the insurance industry would be an added advantage.
