Accountant /Assistant Accountant (Open to Fresh Graduates)
Our client, FOZL Corporate Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, is seeking an Accountant / Assistant Accountant to join their team!
This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional to take ownership of a portfolio of client accounts, handling everything from bookkeeping and financial statement preparation to tax and XBRL filing. Based in Johor Bahru, this role offers exposure to a variety of client accounts and the chance to work closely with senior staff in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What you'll be doing?
- Managing a client portfolio — Take ownership of a portfolio of client accounts, delivering consistent and reliable service.
- Preparing financial statements — Maintain a full set of accounts and prepare unaudited and audited financial statements for internal purposes and company clients.
- Handling bookkeeping — Enter sales and purchase invoices, expenses, capital expenditure, and staff claims into the accounting system, and prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
- Supporting client relationships — Handle customer requests and feedback in a responsive and professional manner.
- Ensuring compliance and timely filing — Ensure timely and accurate submission for tax and XBRL filing for company clients.
- Executing client work under guidance — Manage a portfolio of accounting clients under the guidance of senior staff, building skills and confidence along the way.
- Following company standards — Maintain a high level of discipline in following company procedures and policies.
- Taking on ad-hoc tasks — Perform other ad-hoc duties and tasks as assigned by superiors, contributing wherever needed.
Who are they looking for?
- Educational background — A minimum Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting or a Professional Accounting Qualification provides a strong foundation for this role.
- Relevant experience — At least two to three years of experience in an accounting firm is preferred; candidates with no prior experience are welcomed to apply.
- Audit background welcomed — Candidates with an audit background are also welcome to apply, bringing valuable transferable skills to the role.
- Leadership potential — Leadership ability, along with experience leading an e-invoice project, will be considered an advantage.
- Drive and adaptability — Being motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team will help the successful candidate thrive in this fast-paced environment.
- Mandarin language proficiency — Proficiency in Mandarin is vital for this role, as it involves regular liaison with Mandarin-speaking counterparts.
