Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain accurate financial records for assigned client accounts
• Prepare and reconcile bank statements, general ledgers, and trial balances
• Process accounts payable and receivable transactions with precision and attention to detail
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
• Conduct account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure accuracy
• Liaise with clients to gather necessary financial documentation and information
• Support the resolution of account queries and issues raised by clients
• Maintain organised filing systems and ensure compliance with data management protocols
• Assist with tax compliance and regulatory filing requirements as needed
• Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures

Key responsibilities

What we're looking for

• Qualification in accounting, bookkeeping or a related financial discipline, or equivalent practical experience


• Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounts management or small practice accounting environments


• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel


• Strong numerical aptitude with excellent attention to detail and accuracy


• Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and regulatory requirements


• Excellent organisational and time management skills to manage multiple client accounts


• Professional communication skills and ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues


• Ability to work independently whilst being a supportive team member


• Familiarity with maritime or shipping industry accounting practices is advantageous


• Professional accounting certifications (such as AAT, LCCI or equivalent) are desirable
