Job summary

SEGULA Technologies in Toluca seeks a Senior Design & Release Engineer to lead the design, development, validation, and release of Electrical Distribution Systems and wiring harness assemblies from concept to production.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee 2D schematic creation and 3D routing for vehicle wiring harnesses and power distribution components.
• Manage complete release of EDS components into production using PLM systems and BOM management.
• Drive ECR/ECM processes, updating part numbers and addressing plant design issues and supplier changes.
• Collaborate with packaging, manufacturing, safety, and vehicle integration teams to resolve assembly plant issues.
• Lead validation testing, teardown analysis, and root-cause investigations for pre-production builds and warranty issues; develop DVP&R and DFMEA docs.
• Work with suppliers on DFManufacturing (DFM) initiatives and cost-reduction opportunities without compromising quality.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers, reviewing designs and ensuring compliance with standards.

About the Company: Segula Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Design & Release (D&R) Engineer to join our team in Toluca. In this hybrid role, you will take lead ownership of the design, development, validation, and release of Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) and wiring harness assemblies from concept through production launch. You will act as the primary technical authority between product engineering, manufacturing plants, and Tier-1 suppliers, ensuring that all wiring components meet rigorous functional, packaging, quality, and cost requirements, while guiding junior team members.

About the Role: This role involves taking lead ownership of the design, development, validation, and release of Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) and wiring harness assemblies.

Responsibilities:

• Design & Development: Direct and oversee the 2D schematic creation and 3D routing for complex vehicle wiring harnesses, connectors, terminals, and power distribution components.
• Engineering Release: Manage the complete release process of EDS components into production using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and Bill of Materials (BOM) management.
• Change Management: Drive Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Management (ECM) processes, managing part number updates, plant design issues, and supplier change requests.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with packaging, advanced manufacturing, safety, and vehicle integration teams to ensure routing feasibility and resolve complex assembly plant issues.
• Validation & Quality: Lead validation testing, teardown analysis, and root-cause investigations for pre-production builds and warranty issues. Develop, approve, and execute DVP&R and DFMEA documentation.
• Cost & Manufacturability: Work directly with suppliers on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) initiatives and cost-reduction opportunities without sacrificing component quality.
• Technical Leadership: Mentor mid-level and junior engineers, reviewing designs and ensuring adherence to internal and customer engineering standards.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of proven, direct experience in automotive wiring harness design and release.
• Language: Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken) to effectively negotiate, present technical data, and collaborate with global teams and customers.
• Technical Knowledge: Expert-level understanding of vehicle electrical architecture, grounding systems, wire sizing, and power distribution.
• Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to independently analyze complex engineering problems, define strategic options, and convert them into implementable actions.

Required Skills:

• Software Stack: High proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (Siemens NX or CATIA V5/V6) and 2D harness tools (Mentor Graphics / Capital XC / Vesys).
• System Tools: Strong working knowledge of Teamcenter or similar PLM software.
• Automotive Standards: Advanced familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and GPDS milestones.
• Advanced Technologies: Proven experience with High-Voltage (HV) wiring systems for hybrid/electric vehicles, or deep knowledge of CAN/LIN communications.
