Role Summary The Weld Technologist oversees the manufacturing processes involved in welded structures by applying appropriate technologies, tools, and equipment. This role ensures high‑quality fabrication, troubleshooting of defects, and continuous improvement across welding operations, including manual, automated, and robotic systems.
Key Responsibilities Examine and resolve defects in workpieces using diverse tools, technologies, and diagnostic methods. Ensure strict adherence to quality assurance policies and fabrication procedures. Design, develop, and/or maintain manufacturing processes for welding metal components in required configurations. Apply expertise across manual and automated welding systems to safely and accurately produce high‑quality metal structures. Execute assigned projects efficiently by driving innovation and continuous improvement initiatives. Program, integrate, and install industrial robots and COBOTS, including CLOOS, ABB, YASKAWA, and VECTIS platforms previous experienced required.
Degree Requirements Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field. Intermediate English-speaking level is required.
Skills & Competencies Manufacturing Processes: Understanding of end‑to‑end manufacturing workflows. Ability to optimize processes for efficiency and quality. Metal Fabrication: Proficiency in metalworking techniques, weld preparation, and material handling. Welding – MFG: Knowledge of welding methods, parameters, and industry standards. Familiarity with manual and automated welding systems. Engineering – MFG: Ability to apply engineering principles to improve welding operations. Competence in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications. Quality Management: Knowledge of QA procedures, inspection methods, and corrective actions. Problem Solving: Ability to identify root causes of defects and implement effective solutions. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Collaborative Automation: Hands on knowledge with COBOTS and safe human‑machine interaction. brand Vectis & Yaskawa. Robotic Process Automation (RPA): Ability to program, integrate, and optimize robotic systems for welding applications. Brands Cloos and Wolf ABB (IRC5 y SC4+) knowledge required.
Additional Information: Located in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León. Schedule set to Monday to Friday, 6:24 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Availability to work weekends Availability to travel (10%) Nationally. Availability to work rotating shifts. Domestic relocation bonus not available.
