HSBC Holdings plc in Mexico City is seeking a entry-level to early-career Risk Analyst to support portfolio risk monitoring and analysis across unsecured lending and credit policies.

The role involves analysing applications, approvals, exposure, delinquency, and recoveries; preparing dashboards and management commentary; and collaborating with Risk, Business, Product, Underwriting, and regional teams. Proficiency in Spanish and growing SQL/Python skills are valued.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
  • Experience in financial services, risk or data analysis is advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of consumer credit lifecycle and risk concepts.
  • Fluency in Spanish; English proficiency helpful for regional collaboration.
  • Up to two years of relevant experience including internships.
  • Knowledge of Excel, SQL, Python, SAS; Power BI desirable.

Main activities
Portfolio Risk Monitoring and Analysis
  • Support regular monitoring of unsecured lending portfolios.
  • Analyse applications, approvals, exposure, utilisation, delinquency and recoveries.
  • Review roll rates, charge-offs, expected credit loss and other agreed indicators.
  • Prepare dashboards, portfolio reports and management commentary.
  • Conduct basic product, segment, vintage and channel analysis.
  • Check data completeness, consistency and reasonableness.
  • Highlight unusual movements and emerging portfolio risks.
Credit Risk Strategy, Policy and Controls
  • Support monitoring of credit policies and lending controls.
  • Review eligibility criteria, credit limits and affordability rules.
  • Track credit strategies, scorecards, bureau data and decision rules.
  • Compare performance against agreed indicators.
Stakeholder support and process improvement

Work with Risk, Business, Product, Underwriting, Collections, Operations, Finance, Data, Compliance and regional teams.

Obtain information and deliver assigned tasks within agreed timelines.

Prepare clear documents for reviews, meetings and control activities.

Support improvements to reporting, reconciliations, data quality and analytical processes.

Use tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, SAS or equivalent platforms.

Apply HSBC data, confidentiality and governance requirements.

  • Seek feedback and assume greater responsibility as capability develops.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Experience or relevant academic projects in financial services, risk or data analysis are an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of financial services, consumer credit and credit risk management, with interest in how decisions impact customers and the bank.
  • Curiosity about the full consumer credit lifecycle (acquisition, underwriting, account management, collections and recoveries) and how each stage affects portfolio performance.
  • Foundational knowledge of portfolio performance metrics and key credit risk concepts.
  • Spanish fluency is required; intermediate English is preferred for effective collaboration with regional teams and for using common HSBC documentation.
  • Up to two years of relevant experience, including internships, becario roles, graduate programmes or entry-level employment.
  • Interest in retail banking, consumer credit, unsecured lending, risk management or data analytics.
  • Basic or intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, reconciliations, reporting); familiarity with SQL, Python, SAS, Power BI is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to spot data inconsistencies, interpret trends and communicate findings clearly to different stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, organisation and openness to receiving and acting on feedback.
  • Collaborative working style, proactive learning mindset and responsible use of AI tools in line with HSBC policies
