Volex de México - Tijuana site in Baja California is seeking an Ultrasonic Welding Engineer to help design tooling and processes for high-reliability wire-to-terminal welds for low and high voltage terminations.

The role collaborates with customers, equipment vendors and internal process teams to ensure manufacturability, material selection and process control for high-volume automotive production.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline.
• Lean, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement experience.
• 5 to 7 years’ experience in a similar role and function in engineering related discipline.
• Technical Skills - Strong engineering background in manufacturing with an understanding in ultrasonic welding process.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Project Management Skills - Organized management approach.
• Able to set priorities, identify risks and opportunities.
• Proficient in Microsoft office products.

Responsabilidades

• Work with customers, equipment suppliers and internal process design teams to help design, develop product specific tooling meeting the high reliability of wire-to-terminal welds for low and high voltage terminations.
• Lead experience and expertise in identifying roadblocks to meet tensile requirements and USCAR38.
• Understand materials selection for high thermal conductivity, improved contact resistance and long-term reliability.
• Assess capabilities and limitations of equipment manufacturers and tooling vendors for repeatable high-volume manufacturing.
• Make vendor recommendations for the application needs after assessment.
• Experience in automotive equipment and harnessing including wire welds and plastic welds is essential.
• Provide design & development support with customers and tooling vendors to address design for manufacturability.

Our Volex de México - Tijuana site Leading company in the region since September 1993, dedicated to manufacturing, assembly, construction design, marketing, import, export and everything related to electronic circuits, electrical conduction cables, parts or components electrical appliances or computers, medical diagnostic equipment or other applications.

We are looking for an Ultrasonic Welding Engineer

Role Objective:

In this role, candidate will work with both customers, equipment suppliers and internal process design teams to help design, develop product specific tooling that can meet the very high reliability of wire to terminal welds, for both Low voltage and high voltage terminations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. This will involve working deeply with the customers to understand the end application requirements, explore feasibility.
2. Llead experience and expertise in identifying potential roadblocks in the ability to meet both minimum tensile Client establishes (pull and peel) as well as meeting and exceed USCAR38.
3. This also inevitably requires deep understanding of the pre-requisites to selecting the appropriate base materials that provide the highest level of thermal conductivity, improved contact resistance and long-term reliability.
4. The role also involves the ability to understand the capabilities and limitations of the various equipment manufacturers, their strengths and weaknesses in tool design, process control mechanisms, and what’s involved in achieving highly repeatable processes for high volume manufacturing.
5. After the assessment, make the most appropriate choices and recommendations in selecting a suitable vendor for the application needs.
6. Experience in working in the Automotive equipment and harnessing that include wire welds, plastic welds are an absolute must requirement.

8. Ability to work with both customers and tooling vendors (+Equipment vendors) to identify design constraints and make alternative suggestions to either component, part profile to facilitate a “design for manufacturability” proposals will be key attribute in this role.

Position needed to be resident on-site engineer at Volex, Tijuana Plant 2 HV

Qualifications and Experience:
