Benchmark Electronics Inc. in Tijuana, MX, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to support product lifecycles from design through production.

The role acts as a cross-functional liaison among Design, Procurement, Assembly, and Quality to ensure cost-effective, high-quality manufacturing and to drive continuous improvement initiatives. You will participate in design reviews, evaluate manufacturability, support tooling, MRB/CCB activities, and optimize material, process, and labor efficiency.

Responsabilidades

  • Participate in design reviews and provide product evaluations to ensure designs are manufacturable, practical, and cost-effective.
  • Review engineering drawings prior to Production Release to verify compatibility with current manufacturing technologies.
  • Lead and support make/buy evaluations, recommending in-house versus external vendor manufacturing solutions.
  • Participate in vendor surveys and support supplier capability assessments.
  • Evaluate and define requirements for assembly tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Actively participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and support disposition of nonconforming material.
  • Support Change Control Board (CCB) reviews to ensure engineering changes are producible and within manufacturing capabilities.
  • Monitor daily production activities and recommend material, process, or labor improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Methods and Tooling teams to support tool design, fixture development, and process documentation.
  • Develop manufacturing assembly flow charts, process instructions, and layout designs to optimize product flow.
  • Design and maintain assembly floor layouts and equipment configurations to promote efficiency.
  • Lead or support special manufacturing projects, studies, and evaluations as assigned.
  • Actively participate in Lean manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, TPM, VSM, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Establish clear, measurable objectives aligned with departmental KPIs and site goals.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable certifications and standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS9000, ANSI ESD S20.20, IPC, etc.).
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to junior engineering staff.
  • Perform other duties as required to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer provides technical manufacturing support throughout the product lifecycle, from design phase through full production. This role serves as a liaison between Design Engineering, Procurement, Assembly, and Quality to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality manufacturing operations.
