Job summary

Etsy is seeking a Data Scientist in Trust and Safety Analytics focused on Detection and Enforcement to identify and mitigate risks on the marketplace platform. You will work on optimizing controls, detecting abuse patterns, and driving analytics-driven decisions in a fast-paced environment.

The role reports to the Manager, Trust and Safety Analytics and collaborates with product and engineering teams to strengthen Etsy's risk controls and protect buyers and sellers globally.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Trust & Safety or risk prevention.
• Strong analytical skills with large datasets to inform decisions.
• Advanced SQL and Python; knowledge of precision/recall metrics.

Responsibilities

• Assess, define, and measure the success of controls and detections with Operations.
• Design new controls in response to emerging risks with partner teams.
• Identify opportunities for automation and signal improvement.
• Conduct investigative analysis to spot abuse trends.
• Maintain and refine review processes and model performance metrics.
• Collaborate with leadership on control tuning as trends emerge.
