Landis+Gyr AG is hiring a Trade Compliance Specialist in Reynosa, Mexico to safeguard customs operations, minimize risk, and supervise the external broker. You’ll lead certification programs, audit pedimentos, and interpret evolving regulations under tight deadlines.

The role requires a bachelor’s in foreign trade or customs law, advanced English, and 4–8 years of maquiladora trade compliance experience. Collaboration with internal teams and external partners is essential.

• Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Trade, Customs Law, or related field.
• Advanced English (Bilingual).

Responsabilidades

• Certification Maintenance: Contribute to the compliance, validity, periodic reporting, and defense of the VAT & IEPS Certification (Anexo 30), IMMEX, and PROSEC programs, preventing any risk of suspension, official inquiries, or tax credits.
• Customs Broker Supervision & Auditing: Preemptively evaluate and audit pedimentos and data glosses generated by the external customs broker, ensuring their criteria align with company interests and mitigate SAT fines.
• Internal Audit & Validation: Perform deep-dive audits on Anexo 24 balances and fixed asset regularizations, and validate legal file compliance with record-keeping obligations.
• Regulatory Analysis & Projects: Interpret changes in customs legislation, USMCA (T-MEC) rules, and SAT criteria to design customs optimization strategies.
• Operational Crisis Support: Intervene as liaison with broker or authorities during critical contingencies that risk plant continuity.

The Trade Compliance Specialist is a high-value role responsible for safeguarding the legal and fiscal security of the company’s customs operations. The focus is on mitigating high-impact risks, maintaining strict compliance with manufacturing promotion programs, and supervising the legal performance of commercial partners (Customs Broker). Acts as an internal regulatory advisor and, on specific occasions, as an escalation point to resolve complex operational crises or discrepancies with customs authorities or the broker.

Key Responsibilities

• Certification Maintenance: Contribute to the compliance, validity, periodic reporting, and defense of the VAT & IEPS Certification (Anexo 30), IMMEX, and PROSEC programs, preventing any risk of suspension, official inquiries, or tax credits.
• Customs Broker Supervision & Auditing: Preemptively evaluate and audit pedimentos and data glosses generated by the external customs broker, ensuring that their legal criteria and classifications align with the company's interests and mitigate SAT (Mexican Tax Authority) fines.
• Internal Audit & Validation: Perform deep-dive audits on Anexo 24 balances and fixed asset regularizations, and validate that the legal file consolidated by the analyst complies 100% with statutory record-keeping obligations.
• Regulatory Analysis & Projects: Interpret changes in customs legislation, USMCA (T-MEC) rules, and SAT criteria to design customs optimization strategies, efficient regularizations, or implementation of best practices on the shop floor.
• Operational Crisis Support: Intervene directly as a high-level liaison with the customs broker or authorities during critical operational contingencies (e.g., customs incidents, cargo seizures, or SAT inquiries) that put plant continuity at risk.

Profile and Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Trade, Customs Law, or related field.
• Experience: 4 to 8 years of solid experience in trade compliance within the maquiladora industry, with a proven track record defending the VAT/IEPS Certification and managing legal relationships with external customs brokers.
• Languages: Advanced English (Bilingual).
• Skills: Strategic thinking, strong legal analysis capacity, decision-making under pressure, and excellent external negotiation skills.
