Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience, with significant mining focus.
• Extensive experience with geotechnical software (FLAC, PLAXIS, RocScience).
• Professional Engineer (PE) designation or equivalent is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed geotechnical assessments for mine sites using remote sensing data and client-provided information.
• Develop and review designs for open-pit slopes, underground openings, and tailings facilities.
• Conduct numerical modeling (e.g., finite element analysis) to evaluate stability under various conditions.
• Provide recommendations on ground support systems and mitigation strategies for geotechnical hazards.
• Review and interpret geotechnical investigations, including borehole data and in-situ measurements.
• Collaborate with site-based teams via virtual platforms to address challenges.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a significant portion focused on mining applications.
• Extensive experience with geotechnical software such as FLAC, PLAXIS, Rocscience suite (Slide, Examine3D), etc.
• Strong understanding of soil and rock mechanics, geological principles, and their application to mining.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple complex projects in a remote setting.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts.
• Demonstrated experience in remote collaboration and virtual team environments.
• Professional Engineer (PE) designation or equivalent is highly desirable.
